Educating Children Impacted by Homelessness

Parent Support

We partner with parents to provide school advocacy for their children's education. We coordinate parent/teacher meetings to help parents understand their children's educational needs and help them advocate for the services that are available through the school.

Darren

Darren struggled in school until his mom started working with his teachers to help him learn strategies to find success in the classroom. Darren repeated 8th  grade before going onto High School last year where he made honor roll twice. In 9th grade he started tutoring his classmates in math. Way to go, Darren!

Parent Workshops

  • 1 in 50 children in the United States will become homeless this year. (National Center on Family Homelessness)
  • Reading aloud to young children is not only one of the best activities to stimulate language & cognitive skills, it also builds motivation, curiosity, and memory.
